YouAceIt ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered study planning application designed to help students preparing for A-Level, O-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB), and similar examinations. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data. By using YouAceIt, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Our commitment: We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve our service:
Account & Profile Information
- Full name and username
- Email address
- Profile preferences and settings
- Exam type (A-Level, O-Level, IB, etc.), year level, and subjects
- Grade targets and exam dates
Study & Academic Data
- Study session records (duration, subject, topic, performance rating)
- Topic mastery levels and spaced-repetition history
- Scheduled study blocks and task items
- Practice results and performance scores
- XP points, streaks, and achievement data
Calendar & Schedule Data
- Google Calendar events (read-only, with your permission)
- Google Tasks (read-only, with your permission)
- Device calendar events (iOS/Android, with your permission)
Health & Activity Data
- Sleep duration and history (Apple HealthKit on iOS, with your permission)
- Active calories and sleep data (Google Fit on Android, with your permission)
Social & Community Data
- Friend connections and challenge records (username-level only)
- Weekly reports and shared activity summaries

3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- AI Study Planning: Generating personalised study schedules, identifying knowledge gaps, and applying spaced-repetition algorithms to optimise your revision.
- Schedule Generation: Computing free time slots from your calendar and health data to suggest study windows that fit your life.
- Performance Analytics: Tracking your progress, readiness scores, and burnout indicators over time.
- Gamification: Calculating XP, streaks, and challenge outcomes to keep you motivated.
- Service Improvement: Understanding how features are used to fix bugs and improve the app.
- Communications: Sending important service-related notifications (not marketing, unless you opt in).
- Security & Fraud Prevention: Detecting and preventing unauthorised access to your account.
4. Third-Party Services
YouAceIt integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy which we encourage you to review:
Important: We only request the minimum permissions necessary. Calendar and health integrations are optional — you can use YouAceIt without granting these permissions.
5. Data Storage & Security
Where Your Data Is Stored
- Firebase Firestore: Your account profile and all app data (study sessions, topics, exam info) are stored in Google Firebase Firestore, secured by Firestore security rules that allow only you to access your own data.
- Device Storage: A local cache of your data is stored on your device using AsyncStorage for fast, offline access. This data remains on your device and is not shared.
Security Measures
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- Authentication tokens are stored securely using platform-native secure storage.
- Firestore security rules ensure each user can only read and write their own data.
- We do not store passwords — authentication is handled by Firebase Auth (email/password or Google OAuth).
6. Health & Calendar Data
Access to health and calendar data is entirely optional and requires your explicit permission:
- Apple HealthKit (iOS): We request read-only access to sleep duration and active calories. This data is used solely to improve study schedule recommendations by avoiding sessions during low-energy periods. HealthKit data is never uploaded to our servers — it is processed on-device only.
- Google Fit (Android): We request read-only access to sleep and activity data for the same purpose as above.
- Google Calendar / Device Calendar: We request read-only access to identify free time slots in your schedule. Calendar event content (titles, descriptions) is processed locally to find gaps — individual event details are not stored in our database.
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Health / Calendars; Android: Settings → Apps → YouAceIt → Permissions) or through your Google Account settings.
7. Children's Privacy
YouAceIt is designed for students, including those under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are under 13, please use YouAceIt only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@youaceit.app and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your account and all associated data. You can initiate this from the app's Settings screen or by emailing us.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format (JSON).
- Objection: Object to certain types of data processing.
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw any permissions (calendar, health) you have previously granted at any time.

9. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your Firestore data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Local device cache is cleared immediately upon account deletion.
- Anonymous, aggregated analytics data (with no personal identifiers) may be retained for service improvement.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be available at www.youaceit.com/privacy.
Continued use of YouAceIt after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
